Richard Paxton

Richard Paxton is a native of Austin, graduating from Austin Reagan High School in 1987.  He attended St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, on a basketball scholarship, where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. 

Richard attended South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas, where he graduated in the top 15% of his class in 1997.  He later worked for the Smith County District Attorney’s Office in Tyler, Texas, where he prosecuted over forty cases to a jury verdict.  Most of those cases involved prosecution of Driving While Intoxicated cases.  . 

 He moved his practice to Austin, Texas, in 2003, practicing almost exclusively in the area of criminal law.  Richard represents individuals charged with all varieties of criminal offenses, including but not limited to, Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While License Invalid, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Controlled Substances (cocaine, methamphetamine, etc.), and Aggravated Sexual Assaults.

 Richard is certified by the National Highway and Safety Administration to administer the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests used by police officers to determine whether an individual is intoxicated.
